General Motors and Segway have combined their efforts to create an experimental electric vehicle which they call PUMA (Personal Urban Mobility and Accessibility).

The vehicle uses much of the same technology as the original Segway personal transporters: Dynamic Stabilization, Advanced Sensing, Intuitive User Interfaces, etc. This technology is supposed to allow travelers to make their way through the city and avoid other moving vehicles and people. The PUMA will ideally allow people to communicate via and OnStar like system for traffic updates, parking status, etc. As this seems like a great “idea”, it is probably very far off before a project like this will actually come to fruition for public day to day use.
However, it is a very interesting vehicle for the event and experiential marketing world. It’s new, exciting, eye-catching and perfect for any client who is interested in “green” sampling or transportation. I can see the PUMA carrying event staffers through festivals, concerts, parks, etc to distribute samples or premiums. Basically I see it as a more trendy golf cart!
